Left Enoggera for Broadmeadows Sig School.
[Enoggera was the Australia Army Barracks in Brisbane, Queensland, also known as Gallipoli Barracks. It was used for field training and drill. Initially it consisted of four paddocks and a number of rifle ranges.
Broadmeadows Signal School was located in a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria and was the site of signals training for all Australian troops during the first call up. It was initially a tented camp and conditions were basic.
Signalers had to be competent in Morse signalling on flag, lamp, and heliograph (mirrors) as well as map reading. Their job was dangerous. They had to repair telephone lines or move between trenches as they relayed messages by hand. ]
