Allotted 3/6 per day to Commonwealth Savings Bank, Bank Book No. 72457. Sent balance cash. Bank 1/- day deferred by Govt.

Australian soldiers were paid the average wage, a deliberate policy by the Government. They were nick named  ‘six bob a day tourists’ by other soldiers. A shilling per day was kept back by the Government, to be paid out on discharge.
